Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy by E.L. James

Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy by E.L. James

Taken from the review done by Kelsey Gulliver of Female First.

"For months the simple cover of the book taunted me - the silver satin tie lying ever so appealingly against a background as black as sin itself. I felt the blush creep up my heated cheeks, fifty shades of red as I quickly scammed the cover of Fifty Shades of Grey, the New York Times bestseller by E.L. James.

I remained torn. Curious, but not compelled. An avid consumer of pop culture, I had been exposed to the hype surrounding this, “mommy porn,” novel. And as a Christian, I had been exposed to the condemnation of the book by fellow believers.

Then, two of my close friends, both psychology majors, urged me to read it.

The series at its core is a gritty glimpse into the reality of a life filled with coping through brokenness, and should be preceded with caution. If you make it through, however, you are able to experience that moment of true authenticity, true redemption found during the series’ climax. A very worthwhile moment."

About the trilogy:

Fifty Shades of Grey is the first in the series. When literature student Anastasia Steele interviews successful entrepreneur Christian Grey, she finds him very attractive and deeply intimidating. Convinced that their meeting went badly, she tries to put him out of her mind – until he turns up at the store where she works part-time, and invites her out. Unworldly and innocent, Ana is shocked to find she wants this man. And, when he warns her to keep her distance, it only makes her want him more.

In the second book, Fifty Shades DarkerAna Steele breaks off their relationship to start a new career with a US publishing house. But desire for Grey still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, she cannot resist.

In the final novel, Fifty Shades Freedthey have love, passion, intimacy, wealth, and a world of infinite possibilities. But just when it seems that they really do have it all, tragedy and fate combine to make Ana's worst nightmares come true…
